| Abstract: | The relationship between microstructure and magnetic properties of a series of permanent magnets based on the composition Fe90Al8C2 (wt%) has been studied using X-ray diffractometry and transmission electron microscopy. We have used various fabrication methods, heat treatments and alloying elements in order to optimize the magnetic properties of these alloys and the properties obtained were found to compare favourably with commercially available cobalt steels. |
