| Abstract: | The number of children from ages birth to 3 in need of early intervention services has increased over the past decades. A family-centered approach to early intervention services is essential. The family-centered approach emerged from early intervention philosophy developed by professionals in response to the needs of children and families. The historical perspective of early intervention and family-centered care, the role of nurses in early intervention and suggested focus of future research are outlined. |
