The impact of load changing on lifetime distributions

In real systems components often work in essentially different operating modes, characterized by changing load or environmental conditions. Those modes result in different failure rates and lifetime distributions. In this paper we present a model for a single switch-over between two distinct lifetime distributions. In our approach we take into account the deterioration of a component. This is of great importance to model the effects of load changes on the lifetime distribution. The single component system and the one-out-of-two:G system are discussed.
