Use of EMDR to treat morbid jealousy: a case study

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is a relatively new psychological intervention which has mainly been utilized to treat post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms. The following case study of a 75-year-old World War II veteran, however, illustrates that such symptoms can present in less obvious ways. During his incarceration, the soldier had been subjected to systematic taunting by his Japanese captives. The resultant traumatic memories had been triggered in a range of social situations over the next 50 years, leaving a legacy of morbid jealousy which was quickly and effectively treated. Potential areas for research are indicated.
