Abstract:In order to further reduce the cost of unconventional oil and gas development in China,this paper systematically sorted out the development trends of fracturing proppants in North America in recent years,clarified the new research progress of proppants in reservoir simulation at home and abroad,and summarized the differences in proppant use concepts between domestic and foreign companies.On this basis,combining with the characteristics and current situation of China’s unconventional reservoir development,the sand quality of China’s six major sources was evaluated,basic theoretical research on the feasibility of sand application was carried out,the localization of sand sources in China was excavated,and the production effectiveness and economics of sand popularization was demonstrated in key oil and gas blocks.The result shows that the crushing resistance of domestic quartz sand can reach 4K、5K(approximately 28MPa、35MPa),and its quality is equivalent to that of North American’s common yellow sand.National standard for crushing rate test is revised,expanding the application scope of quartz sand.The selection principle of fracturing proppant is proposed with economic efficiency as the target.From the effective stress analysis,the stress of proppant is only 50%-60%of the traditional proppant in horizontal well fracturing.The amount of sand is increased from 650 thousand tons in 2015 to 2.75 million tons in 2019,with an annual cost saving of more than 2 billion yuan.At the same time,localized sand sources in giant Junggar,Ordos and Sichuan Basin are evaluated.Based on this evaluation,independent sand factory has been built,with annual production capacity reaching 1.5 million tons,which laid resource foundation for further substantial cost reduction and efficiency increase of unconventional oil and gas.Taking shale gas as an example,if sand is used to replace ceramic,the investment is expected to be less than 6 billion yuan,with a reduction rate of more than 40%.
