摘    要:可见光通信是一种将照明和通信相结合的新型无线通信技术,但是接收端所采用的传统光电检测器的探测动态范围小、探测效率低,限制着可见光通信的发展。为了进一步提升传输距离和通信速率,本文研究了阵列结构的多像素光子计数器(Multi-pixel Photon Counter, MPPC)在可见光通信中的接收模型。实验采用模拟型输出的MPPC作为接收端进行光电转换,首先在弱光实验条件下搭建了可见光通信实验系统,然后推导了基于理想泊松模型的最大似然检测算法并给出了相应的误码率仿真图。仿真结果表明该算法的误码率性能和传统均值检测算法相比更优。最后通过观察不同传输条件下的眼图研究了阵列结构输出的泊松模型和叠加特性,并用实验数据对算法仿真结果进行了验证。实验表明,在工程应用中阵列结构的MPPC相比传统单光子检测器具有一定的优越性,为后续可见光通信系统设计和优化提供了支撑。

An experimental system of low illumination visible light communication based on multi-pixel photon counter

Abstract:Visible light communication is a new wireless communication technology which combines lighting and communication. However, the traditional photoelectric detector used as the receiver has a small detection dynamic range and low detection efficiency, which limits the development of visible light communication. In order to further improve the transmission distance and communication rate, the receiving model of multi-pixel photon counter (MPPC) with array structure in visible light communication is studied in this paper. In the experiment, MPPC with analog output is used as the receiver for photoelectric conversion. Firstly, the visible light communication experiment system is built under the condition of weak light. Then, the maximum likelihood detection algorithm based on the ideal Poisson model is deduced and the corresponding bit error rate simulation diagram is given. The simulation results show that the performance of this algorithm is better than the traditional mean detection algorithm. Finally, the Poisson model and superposition characteristics of array structure output are studied by observing the eye diagram under different transmission conditions, and the simulation result of this algorithm is verified by experimental data. The experimental results show that the MPPC with array structure has some advantages over the traditional single photon detector in engineering application, which provides support for the design and optimization of the following visible light communication system.
