Abstract:In this paper, based on the finite element displacement method for a three dimensional continuum, a finite element method for the three dimensional elastic materials analysis is proposed. Using this method, for a three dimensional continuum with entirely unknown material behaviour can have the material behaviour (which may be anisotropic, having one or two planes of symmetry, traversely isotropie, or isotropic) determined and all the elastic constants calculated, provided only that the displacements of several points are given.
