The Relationship between the Development of Cities and the Health of Their Rivers

The development of a city is closely related with the health of its rivers. The health of the rivers of a city means that the natural state of the rivers is healthy and able to provide the city with a good ecological environment, serve the public, meet the need of human society for sustainable development, and finally form a virtuous circle in which a balance is kept between human development of rivers and its protection of the rivers. As the most important natural carrier of a city, whether its rivers are healthy or not will affect its development in such respects as urban layout, environment, culture, politics, economy, security, etc. But in the current urbanization, the health of the rivers are being threatened by water pollution, water shortage, river silting, etc caused by population growth and industrial expansion.
