Abstract:
Interdiffusion and self-diffusion of bulk metallic glass-forming Pd–Cu–Ni–P alloys have been investigated above the liquidus temperature at 993 K by the long-capillary method. Good agreement between the calculated partial mixing enthalpies and observed uphill-diffusion was found. The flow direction of uphill-diffusing elements is towards regions with the highest negative heat of mixing.
