Narrative strategies of foregrounding and backgrounding in the romantic story of Liwa and indirect attacking tactics

There has been a lot of different opinions on the theme of the romantic story of Liwa. By analyzing the text of this story, the paper has arrived at the conclusion that the foregrounding theme is that the author very much appreciated the character of Liwa, deeply sympathized Lord Yingyang's son, and that the backgrounding theme is that the author demoted and rebuked Lord Yingyang and therefore indirectly attacked the practice of the pedantry and the courtesy. Both the foregrounding theme and the backgrounding theme were interwoven together throughout the novel, thus making this story even more penetrating and abounding.
