'Alternativeness' of the Development of Art Space An Interview with Mr. Hou Hanru

This article recorded an interview between a curator and an architect, Mr.Hou Hanru and Liu Heng.This interview, started from a special program onTimes Museum which is a part of 2005 Guangzhou Triennial and developed beyond, covered such problems as the public and the private of exhibition space, the relationship between architectural design and the whole programming of exhibitions in museums, and the influences on art creation by different exhibition modes as well. And it also points out that, traditional patterns of management, program and display spaces of museums are facing challenges in these days while more new types of art emerges and public demands for culture and art grows.
