Turbidity Point of Nonionic Surfactants The occurrence of turbidity above a definite temperature in aqueous solutions of many nonionic surfactants, especially in those of ethylene oxide adducts, is due to separation of two liquid phases and not due to dehydration of the hydrophilic group, as is often assumed. In discussing the above phenomenon, the thermodynamic laws governing the resolution of liquid two-component systems are taken into consideration.
