Thermally Induced Flow in Gas Centrifuge, (I)
Abstract:Centrifugally driven thermal convection near the cooled rotor conver of a centrifuge is treated.

Boundary layer equations are reduced to ordinary differential equations by the Lees-Levy transformation, and solved numerically by applying the quasilinearization method.

Sample solutions for radial and azimuthal velocity profiles are presented. The values of the axial velocity at the rotor center are calculated as a function of the temperature difference between the rotor cover and the contained gas.
