Abstract: | Conclusions The effect of Sb2O3 on the corrosivity of volatile polycondensation distillates has been studied. Inhibiting action of the antimony which separates on metallic constructional materials thereupon has been shown. It has been found that separation of antimony on apparatus walls takes place due to reduction of Sb2O3 by the metal of the contact surface. It has been established that the formation of noncontinuous coatings of antimony on the surface of carbon steel leads to an intensification of local corrosion. Recommendations have been given on the use of constructional materials of the system for trapping and collecting volatile distillates.Translated from Khimicheskie Volokna, No. 3, pp. 12–14, May–June, 1988. |
