Abstract:In order to solve the difficult problem of mastering the calculation for cable adjustment of cable-stayed bridge, a practical cable adjustment method for hybrid girder cable-stayed bridge was proposed. Through taking the Foshan Nanhai Dongping River Bridge, which is a road-cum-railway hybrid girder cable-stayed bridge with the largest width in China, as an example, the cable force at the ideally completed bridge state was calculated with an empirical trial method, and the cable force at the construction stage was calculated with the a two-stage method. At the cantilever assembling stage, the cable force met the requirements of girder gravity and construction loads. When the girder was closed, the adjustment of cable force was performed with the program based on the influential matrix method compiled with the MATLAB language. The results show that the errors between the final and ideal cable force of the completed bridge are within 1.9%. The as-proposed practical cable adjustment method has simple calculation principle, fast cable adjustment speed and high cable adjustment accuracy, and is easy to master.
