How to Effectively Measure the Technical Barriers to Trade --Introduction and Review of Relevant Practical Measuring Methods

Technical Barriers to Trade(TBT) applies technical regulation,technical standard and accreditation to the trade policy with the effect of deterring import and protecting domestic firms.Contrary to the increasingly reduction of tariff and quota,TBT tends to increase all the way as the globalization and trade liberalization are deepening.TBT's uniqueness is also reflected in its direct impact on the firms' production means.Therefore,both micro-data and effective methods are required to effectively quantify the effect of TBT.This paper categorizes the different methods and comments on their effectiveness,aiming to provide some groundwork for further efforts.
