n this paper,the general equations of a double-diffusive system with constant and variable temperature gradient and salinity gradient are presented, and the periodic variations of temperature and salinity at the boundary of nonconvective zone (NCZ) and lower convective zone(LOZ) are introduced, Especially, the thermal stability criterion of a fully-saturated solar pond is proposed. and the comparison between theoretical analysis and experimental data obtained under natural conditions with some commonly used salt solutions is rather satisfactory. The formation of a self-equilibrium system is directly observed.
