Abstract: | Abstract An analytical approach is developed to obtain the solution of coupled Schrödinger equations for polarization components of a solitary wave. Variational analysis allows us to describe optical pulse propagation in fibres with nonlinear birefringence. Conditions for polarization channel switching and locking are formulated. |
