Abstract: | The optical rotation and ellipticity spectra from a chiral sculptured thin film were calculated using the piecewise homogeneity approximation method and Bruggeman homogenization formalism. The effects of dispersion and dissipation on the spectra were investigated using experimental dielectric functions for bulk zirconia (ZrO2) and titania (TiO2). The results showed that, in the event of weak frequency dependence of the optical properties of the raw material, effects on the transmission optical activity spectra can be discounted. |
