An Investigation of Design Method of the Damped Torsional Vibration Absorber of Automotive Engine Crankshaft with an Application

Abstract:The torsional vibration absorbers of reciprocating piston engine crankshafts are the earliest and most commonly used kind of damped dynamic vibration absorbers. In this paper, on the basis of briefly reviewing the advancement of design method for some different damped dynamic vibration absorbers, the design method of torsional vibration absorbers of automotive engine crankshafts is investigated, and some theoretical and practical problems concerned are clarified by an examination on an automotive diesel engine. Finally some suggestions fer improving the rubber type absorber of the foregoing diesel engine are given.
