Abstract:Recent work on the gas-liquid interface is discussed with emphasis on theoretical studies of the small-scale motion of the capillary-wave zone, experimental and theoretical studies of the ultra-small-scale surface roughness of liquids, experimental measurements of the Onsager heat of transport at a gas-liquid interface, the likely origin of the heat of transport at a molecular level, and the resolution of several types of paradoxical behavior that have been observed or predicted to occur at a liquid-vapor interface.
