Abstract:Reproducing waste tires into powder and using rubber powder as asphalt modifier is a very hot topic.The effect of the dosage of rubber powder on the high-temperature deformation resistance of asphalt mixture was investigated in this research.Rubber powder with size of about 60 mesh was firstly prepared by grinding waste tires in the laboratory.Then rubber powder was mixed with asphalt binder to prepare modified asphalt,and four kinds of modified asphalt with the dosage of rubber powder of 10%,20%,30%and 40%,respectively,were prepared.Finally,asphalt mixtures with rubber modified asphalt were designed and the high-temperature deformation resistance of asphalt mixtures was evaluated by rutting test.Results showed that too small or too high dosage of rubber powder in asphalt binder were both not beneficial for improving the high-temperature stability of asphalt mixtures.The suitable dosage of rubber powder in modified asphalt binder was 20%~30%.
