Abstract:The Rapid Displacement Heating (RDH) cooking process has been developed by Beloit Corporation as an energy efficient pulping system. Cooking steam saving up to 75% have been seen on a commercial scale in kraft pulp mills. The chemistry of an RDH cook is more selective than a conventional kraft cook. In an RDH cook, it is possible to cook to much low Kappa number with better strength than a conventional kraft cook.
