Status and role of TGP in sustainable development of hydropower in China

Since the completion and operation of TGP,it realized significant benefit in flood control,power generation and navigation.The status of TGP,which is a milestone in the construction history of hydropower projects in China,is demonstrated in the aspects of construction scale and difficulty.From the view of its strategic status in the sustainable development of hydropower in China,TGP,located at the central area of China,is a backbone power sources for west-to-east power transmission and mutual supply of South and North.It will promote the main power grids all over China to form a combined power system and play an important role in the sustainable development of hydropower in China,especially the hydropower resources development in upper Yangtze River.The experience in solving the problems of ecology and resettlement of TGP are discussed,which has important enlightenment in the sustainable development of hydropower in China.
