Research Progress on the Preparation and Application of Microfibrillated Cellulose

The preparation process of microfibrillated cellulose (MFC), its surface modification, characteristics and application were introduced in this paper. The effects of different mechanical preparation method of MFC, resources of MFC and the chemical components of lignocellulosic fiber on the microfibrillated were discussed in particular. This paper also focued on the various pretreatment processes for improving the preparation of MFC. By using different modification methods, MFC would have different characteristics and application. And the basic characteristics and the applications of MFC were introduced.
