Abstract: | Conclusions A water-soluble polymer added to quartz glass slip in the proportion of 0.02% (on the solid phase) increases the viscosity of the slip by a factor of three to four without changing the rheological behavior of the slip. The polymer produces a significant increase in the kinetic stability of slips of low apparent density. The loose packing of the solid phase in a system stabilized with a polymer helps to accelerate the building-up of the casting.Slips stabilized with a high polymer can be recommended for the production of castings of porosity 17–27%.Translated from Ogneupory, No. 5, pp. 50–52, May, 1976. |
