A Comparative Study of MRP System and JIT System

As to MRP system and JIT system, there has long been argument that which is more efficient. On the one hand, with the success of Japan's economy, it is believed that the JIT production system, originated from the Kanban System of Toyota Corporation, is more efficient than MRP system in a number of aspects, such as decreasing stock and product-in-making, shortening production lead time, etc. On the other hand, many companies which have used JIT system have not obtained expected economic efficiency, or simply achieved no improvement in the production efficiency. So in this paper,two models for MPR and JIT systems are estublished for computer shoulation study and quantitutive comparison of the results from the two systems with the same production conditions.
