Abstract: | A principle role of mycotoxins may be in the establishment of fungi in various ecological niches. Mycotoxins may have a multiplicity of functions. They may function as antibiotics, as chemical signalling agents, as mutagenic agents and in other ways. The outcome of ecological competition may have evolutionary and biochemical taxonomic significance. |
