Abstract: | Magnetite concentrate is typically high in Fe grade and releases extra heat when oxidized to hematite. This will not only improve the sinter quality but also have a potential beneficial impact on the fuel consumption of the sintering process. However, most concentrates are very fine and less reactive, which will negatively impact the green bed permeability and sintering reactions and consequently the productivity of the sintering process. This paper first discusses the effect of magnetite concentrates on the granulation and sintering reactions and then reviews and comments on the technologies recently developed to address the adverse impact of magnetite concentrates. |
