Gemini surfactants (Ⅰ)

Gemini surfactants feature unique characteristics and excellent surface activity.Its critical micelle concentration(CMC) value is lower than that of typical surfactants about several hundreds,but the capability to reduce the surface tension is much higher,thus the dosage in application can be greatly reduced.This paper covers the research and development status,molecular structural characteristics and surface behaviors,as well as properties of Gemini surfactants.Based on the surfactant properties,they are divided into cationic,anionic,nonionic and amphiprotic categories.Their properties, synthesizing methods,as well as applications are detailed respectively.
