Study on adsorption for Pb2+ in wastewater with modified zeolite (HY)-zirconium silicate

A natural zeolite tuff was used to adsorb heavy meatal ions for the wastewater processing,utilizing it＇s capacity of exchanging with other irons.We mixed zirconium silicate with modified zeolite（HY） into a slurry analogous state at an ratio of 1∶1 by weight.The mixture was dried at 110 ℃ for 3 h,then was cured at 800 ℃ for 6 h in the electric resistance furnace.The mixture was broken into paticles,which were sieved for the specific size.The got absorption material can adsorb Pb2＋ in the wastewater through this experiment.The results indicated that,for HY zeolite and zirconium silicate system,the adsorption capacity of Pb2＋ reached it＇s maximum 96.87 μg/g at 30 ℃,pH 5~6,and adsorbent 32 g/L,and adsorption for 1 h.While the efficiency of desorption reach 88.7% at 15 ℃,pH 12 and shaking for 1 h.Such material showed a stronger adsorption of Pb2＋ comparing with the single system of natural zeolite.However,it is available at a low cost and can be used repeatedly.
