Abstract:Arsenic in natural water is a worldwide problem.Activated carbon adopted ion iron can be used as the adsorbent to efficiently remove arsenic from water,which takes into account the advantages of both flocculation and activated carbon adsorption.The synthesizing method of the materials,main effects on arsenic removed and research development of adsorption model were discussed in details.More specifically,the paper focused on the adsorption capacity of the sample,mainly dependent of pore structure,surface properties and the characteristics of the ion(such as species,distribution,morphology and content).Furthermore,the relation between the arsenic removed and the stirring time,solution pH,temperature and ion strength was studied.The Langmuir model and Freundlich model were used to describe the physical adsorption.The Surface Complex Formation Model was used to illustrate the mechanism of ligand exchange and chemical adsorption.Finally,future developments for arsenic uptake by activated carbon adopted ion iron were reviewed.
