Abstract:Ductile brittle transition temperature (FATT)and non-plastic transition temperature (NDT)are two key indexes to evaluate the low temperature properties of plates for low temperature pressure vessels. The effects of microstructure such as banded structure, inclusions and second phase particles on FATT and NDT of 48 mm thickness 16MnDR plate were analyzed by metallographic microscope, scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope and energy spectrum analysis. The results show that the FATT of the plate is -40 ℃, the NDTis -55 ℃, and the low-temperature impact energy of -40 ℃ meet the standard requirements, and the margin is large. The plate have good low-temperature toughness and low-temperature crack arrest. During production, it was necessary to take into account the factors affecting low-temperature performance, such as slab quality, inclusions and second phase particles, so as to minimized the content of inclusions, reduced the size of inclusions, avoided the excessive coarseness of banded structure, prevented the aggregation and growth of second phase particles. Only the comprehensive control of various influencing factors could ensure that the plate had good low-temperature performance.
