Abstract: | In an investigation of the usefulness of a commitment measure by M. E. Gordon et al (see record 1980-33572-001), 128 members and 42 unpaid officials of a Dutch union completed questionnaires designed to elicit information about union participation, satisfaction, and commitment. Two robust dimensions emerged from analyses: Union Loyalty and Willingness to Work for the Union. These 2 factors accounted for 57% of the common variance. The likelihood that a person would consider withdrawing from the union was predicted more accurately by the Loyalty to the Union factor than by satisfaction with the union.
