Alkali-isomerized linoleic acid

Summary Alkali-isomerized linoleic acid and its methyl ester have been found to have boiling points higher than the corresponding normal C₁₈ acids and esters. By careful fractional distillation of methyl esters of alkali-isomerized C₁₈ cottonseed acids, methyl linoleate of 95% or more purity is obtained consisting of 75% conjugated methyl linoleate and some 20% of methyl ester of an altered linoleic acid.
