Some Study on the Design of Underpinning Structure for Pier Column and Foundaion of Over Bridge

Base upon an example of the pier column and pile foundation underpinned in a certain project, the underpin technology are discussed in the paper. It is extremely important to analysis the conversion between the old structure loading system and the new one in a right way, and to make a safe, reasonable and feasible project plan. As well as the principal point of design, the basic requirement of construction of the underpinning structure, the emphases and difftculty of the design and construction, and the key complication are drawn in this paper. It could be a good reference for some similar engineering projects.
