| Abstract: | Taking into account the limitation of the traditional method for establishing the limiting height of a waste dump,the action of the load from a waste dump on a flate surface soil substrate is studied,and a general method and formula for establishing the limiting height of a waste dump and the formulas for calculating critical thickness h_0 of surface soil are developed in this paper. This would promote the application of high bench waste dumping technique. It is pointed out that the traditional method for calculating the limiting height based on the thickness of a top soil substrate and its deformation is a special example of the above general method.Finally a successful example is cited for Qijiagou waste dump with a 400 m bench height. |
