Abstract:The Internet is seen as providing information services and products discrete and separate from print‐based media, but so far there have been few manifestations of actually useful services, though this is changing. This paper describes one such multimedia resource that has been running for thirty months, on a specific aspect of music: European Free Improvisation. After an overview of free improvisation, the content of the web site is described — audio, video, and collaborative full text material ‐ as well as involvement in a current EU‐funded ACT project, GAIA.
