Backing for the influence of the energy of acoustic signal of the piezoelectric sensor embedded in concrete
Abstract:piezoelectric embedded concrete module is a combination of the piezoelectric materials and the concrete. Such module can be used to monitor the health of the concrete structure. In order to enhance the acoustic signal created by the embedded piezoelectric materials, this paper used metal backings combined with the embedded piezoelectric ceramic disc. This method allows the receiver on the axial direction of the embedded piezoelectric ceramic discs received acoustic signal with 10 times more energy. We got a characteristic curve of the energy of the relative increment of acoustic signal changes as the product of backing thickness and acoustic excitation frequency. The power spectrum of acoustic signal analysis also showed that the metal backing does not change the peak frequency and frequency bandwidth range of the acoustic signal power spectrum.
