Maleic anhydride(MA) is wildly used in the fields of resin,paint,agriculture pesticide,lubricant,medicine,paper dealing agent and food additive etc.Global demand for MA is gradually increasing with a balanced relationship of supply and demand.The global output was 1.0 million tons in 2000,and the growth rate per year was estimated at 5 1% until 2003.Demand for MA in China will be 126 thousand tons in 2005,with 1,4 butanediol(BDO) not included.Now the production capacity of MA is 160 thousand tons,but most of the production units will be sifted out because of the small scale and behindhand process.Import tendency of MA is rising,but the proportion of import is relatively lower.The benzene oxidation process will still dominate because of restriction of material and technology in China.
