Test Method for Determining the Clearance of Subsurface Pumps

The author analyzes the disadvantages of selecting subsurface pumps according to the clearance grades, introduces a new concept called "equivalent clearance", and explains why pump selections should base on the equivalent clearance. He introduces both hydraulic test and vacuum test for determining the equivalent clearance, and indicates that vacuum test is preferred because of simpler test device, shorter test period, higher efficiency and no pollution of the environment.
