Improved method for the estimation of parasorbic acid in sorbic acid |

| Abstract: | A simple method for determining parasorbic acid ( I ) in sorbic acid ( II ), suitable for use down to levels of 0.5 mg/kg, is described. The parasorbic acid is extracted from aqueous potassium sorbate with dichloromethane and determined by gas chromatography using a flame ionisation detector. |
