Abstract: | High density titanium diboride based composites have been densified through hot pressing. 10 vol.% B4C + 10 vol.% 2Y-ZrO2 have been used as reinforcing phases. Several properties, including fracture strength, fracture toughness, hardness, Young's modulus, thermal expansion and electrical resistivity were measured. Resulting data were correlated with sample microstructure and composition and were compared to the base-line matrix material. |
