Minimal computer technologies and learner-centred environments: Some New Zealand experience
Authors:Kwok-Wing Lai
Abstract:This paper argues that it is not the technology itself, but rather a learner-centred approach to the use of computers which will provide the opportunity for the learners to set their own academic goals, to experiment with their ideas, to explore alternative solutions to real world problems, and to think critically. We will use three New Zealand examples to illustrate how a limited number of computers can be utilized to facilitate an active learning process in a primary classroom.
