Abstract:On the basis of working conditions for an actual electric vacuum glass melting furnace 1],a three dimensional mathematical model has been set up to use SIMPLEC method to simulate the flow and beat transfer within the glassmelt.The glass furnace studied here possesses melting part and working part,and a throat connects them. From the results of 3 D-simulation, it can easily been seen that 3D-simulation is more realistic than 2 D- simulation. According to the quantitative criteria for appraising the refining condition2],the effect of glass pull on the refining process and the return flow of the throat was investigated.Three dimensional mathematical model could be provided an effective tool for optimizing the operations and design of glass furnaces.
