Abstract: | This paper explores the use of an interior permanent-magnet synchronous machine (IPM) as a source of controlled DC power. A three-phase diode rectifier converts the generated AC power into DC, which is further processed by a buck or boost DC-DC converter with a pulse-width modulation voltage controller for load voltage and output power regulation. The modeling and analysis of the generator system set forth are confirmed to accurately predict the generator characteristics by experimental results derived from a 2 hp interior permanent-magnet generator controlled separately by a buck and a boost DC-DC converter |
