Abstract:Dioctyl adipate was synthesized by esterification of adipic acid and octanol catalyzed by solid superacid resin. The effects of molar ratio of reactants, amount of water - carrying agent and catalyst, and reaction time on the yield of dioctyl adipate were investigated. And the optimized reaction conditions were determined. The yield of the product could be more than 99.6% under the reaction conditions as follows: molar ratio of octanol to adipic acid 3 : 1, amount of water - carrying agent and catalyst 9 mL and 1% respectively, and reaction time 140 minutes based on adipic acid 0.1 mol.
