| Abstract: | The paper begins with explaining the relative merits of Electrical Time Division Multiplexing and Optical Wavelength Division Multiplexing systems.Then,it describes the advantages of Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing applications in exploiting the potentical capacity of optical fiber.The paper briefly introduces the progress made in the design of optical network elements.Finally,it predicts that the multi wavelength optical networking would have bright prospects in the future. |
