| Abstract: | The compaction behavior of agglomerated zirconia powder was studied by a continuous pressing method. It is shown that there are three sections in compacted density versus the semilogarithm of the applied pressure curve: two linear sections in the curve in the lower and higher pressure ranges respectively and a concave-upward section in the middle. Based on an assumption that an agglomerate behaves as a solid particle before it is crushed during compaction, new mathematical model is proposed and proved, which is applicable to estimate the agglomerate density and the crushing ratio in the compaction under a certain applied pressure. |
