Study of Filling Power Standard for Feathers and Down

The Filling Power is an important indicator for quality of feathers and down garment.Due to different standards,the comparability of testing results is difficult.This paper compares the standard of GB/T,IDFB and EN,analyzes the pretreatment,as well as the testing tools,instruments and operating procedures,and tries to find out the main differences.It concludes that the steam reduction method can provide a good recovery effect for the down material,which is beneficial to reflect the actual value.Although the conditioning time of pretreatment varies,it has no effect on the testing results after even more than 48 hours.Among the standards,GB/T 10288—2016 and IDFB Part 10 B:2015 are basically consistent in terms of parameters and operations.
